About us

Scheppach is a German company founded in 1927 by Josef Scheppach, once known for its agricultural machines, firewood circular saws, and other woodworking tools. Josef Scheppach founded the company in Niederraunau, Germany, during the Weimar Republic era, when the economic conditions were challenging. He started by manufacturing firewood circular saws, malt mills, and providing repairs for agricultural machines.

Scheppach has maintained a presence in the industry for decades and has gained recognition for its quality tools and machinery. It has continued to innovate and adapt to changing market demands. Over the years, Scheppach's commitment to producing quality tools and equipment, coupled with its ability to adapt to changing market demands, has contributed to its growth and worldwide recognition.

Throughout the mid-late 1900s, Scheppach went from strength to strength after moving from Krumback, Niederraunau to a new location in Ichenhausen in 1961. By the mid-70s, Scheppach departed from the area of agricultural machinery and focussed on developing and producing woodworking machines. By honing in on woodworking machines, Scheppach was able to establish itself as a specialist in this niche segment and expand its product range to include a variety of machines and accessories catering to woodworking enthusiasts, professionals, and industries.

The journey from a small workshop in Niederraunau to becoming one of the largest companies in the sector is a testament to the company's ability to evolve, expand, and meet the needs of its customers. It's a story of entrepreneurship, resilience, and adaptability that highlights how businesses can thrive and make a lasting impact over time.

Expanding the product range, in 2009-10, to include construction machinery and heavy trade equipment by introducing plate vibrators, concrete mixers, hand-held agitators, dumpers, demolition equipment and battery-powered devices, Scheppach extended its offerings beyond woodworking and entered the construction equipment market.

Since 2014, the range of gardening machinery and tools has grown continuously to become a permanent part of Scheppach’s portfolio. Scheppach is now one of the fastest growing companies in Germany and Europe, a job motor for the region and one of the leading companies in this sector.

Founding of Woodster GmbH

The introduction of the Woodster range in 2005 as a specialised product line for sale through DIY retailers was a significant strategic move for Scheppach. By launching the Woodster range, Scheppach aimed to tap into the consumer DIY market, making its products more accessible to a broader audience. This move contributed significantly to the growth of the company, not only by expanding its customer base but also by diversifying its distribution channels and revenue streams.

Genpower and Scheppach

In 2023, Genpower secured the UK & Ireland distribution for Scheppach battery-powered devices and electrical tools such as bandsaws, pillar drills, dust extractors, bench grinders, fret saws and more.

With a long history of leading brand innovation and quality products, Genpower looks forward to leading the next chapter of Scheppach into a promising future and to carry the legacy of Scheppach as UK Licensed Importer for Scheppach battery-powered devices and electrical tools.
